The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is now playing in theaters everywhere. In both in 2D and 3D, this is the first movie in the new trilogy adapting the book The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. This and the two movies to come will tell the continuous story of how Bilbo Baggins joins a quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom from the dragon Smaug and how he gains possession of the “precious” ring from Gollum.
The Guardian gave the movie a great review saying that, “It’s an exciting story, easy to follow and lacking both the solemnity and the portentous symbolism of The Lord of the Rings.” The Guardian also states that Martin Freeman (playing the role of Bilbo Baggins) brings, “An endearing spirit to the first part of Peter Jackson’s epic new Tolkien trilogy.” Martin Freeman’s Sherlock costar, Benedict Cumberbatch, plays the voice of Smaug and to popular delight Ian McKellen will return playing Gandalf the Grey in this epic tale.
